Alverna Austin has been a member of HBREA for approximately 20 years and is currently a Broker Associate with Keller Williams International.

I've accepted the challenge for your consideration and vote to become a member of the Board of Directors of The Houston Black Real Estate Association of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers.
Given the opportunity in actualizing my gifts and talents personally and professionally of integrity and utilizing my skills, knowledge, and experiences for faith-based, public, private, non-profit organizations, education, law, public relations, transportation analysis, city planning for the enhancement of the livelihoods for my community and the world which none can be possible without the integrity of property and real estate transactions.

In The Omnipotence’s Will, I’m blessed among women to actualize love, compassion, and control under the mentorships of Attorney Gladys R. Goffney as her Legal Secretary; Texas Southern University's: Director of Speech Dr. Clarice Lowe as her administrative Secretary; Registrar Mr. John E. Westberry as his Administrative Assistant; and Department of Transportation Professors Terrence E. Grant; Mr. Simmons and Dr. McCoy as a Science and Engineering Technology Student.

I began my Real Estate career in 2004 and joined Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices in 2016. Acquired Real Estate Broker’s License in 2020. Later joined Coldwell Banker Realty in 2021. Field of Specialization Relocation and Veterans.

Tenzesta Smith

Tenzesta “Marie” Smith

Born and raised in Northern California, Tenzesta took advantage of a corporate relocation opportunity and settled in the Houston area in 1999. This has given her a unique perspective on the prospect and prosperity of real estate. With so many real estate questions and opportunities, she pursued her degree in real estate and became a licensed agent in 2006 and Broker in 2018.

Tenzesta’s mission is to preserve, strengthen, and enrich her clients’ quality of life through homeownership, and she is a relentless advocate for the underserved and underrepresented. Tenzesta is intentional and consistently performs at a high level. Having more than 15 years of real estate experience, Tenzesta is a respected Top Producer and Triple-Crown recipient. With education as a staple in her core values, she is a Professor of Real Estate at Houston Community College. She also proudly served as an Officer of the Houston Black Real Estate Association 2016 – 2020, an active member of the Houston Black Chamber of Commerce, a member of Greater
Houston Builders Association, and current President of her Homeowners’ Association.

Her academic accomplishments include an associate degree in Real Estate, Bachelor of Science in Business Management, a Master of Business Administration and soon, she will pursue her master’s degree in Community
Development at PVAMU. Tenzesta holds a Texas Real Estate Brokers’ License, a California Real Estate Salesperson License, a Texas Mortgage Loan officer’s license, and Insurance Adjuster licenses. She values her partnerships, listens to their needs and whether it be at the office, classroom, boardroom, or the closing table; she applies her education, experience, and strong negotiating skill to achieve a win-win outcome.
