About HBREA

Houston's oldest Black real estate association — empowering professionals and building generational wealth for over 75 years.

Our Mission

Democracy in Housing

The Houston Black Real Estate Association (HBREA), founded in 1949, is the local chapter of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB). NAREB, founded in 1947, is the oldest and largest minority trade association in America.

HBREA was founded on the principle that all citizens have the right to equal housing opportunities regardless of race, creed, or color.

Our mission is two-fold: to increase wealth in Black communities beginning with homeownership, and to elevate and empower Black real estate professionals. Because when we succeed, our communities succeed.
